Back in the early 2000s, Flash banners ruled the web. They were interactive, animated, and often wildly experimental—like mini-movies squeezed into kilobytes.

The first banner ad ever? That was in 1994, courtesy of HotWired magazine. It simply asked: “Have you ever clicked your mouse right here? You will.”
